MY SONG "WICKED ASSEMBLIES" WAS MARKED AS DESERVING SPECIAL RECOGNITION IN SONGDOOR 2016 HONORABLE MENTIONS
Now this makes me very happy and it was unexpected to share that my song "Wicked Assemblies" received not only an honorable mention in the 2016 International Songwriting Competition, but was plused as deserving special recognition. That motivated me to make a video on this particular song, Wicked Assemblies, and post it to my YouTube channel, so those interested could hear the version the judges marked as deserving special recognition, and my backstory on it, why I wrote it, and how pleased I am to get this recognition on this song with is not your average Christian song in far as gospel or worship, but is a prophetic Christian song. https://youtu.be/ngcOmDs3EBA
TWO SEMI-FINALIST POSITIONS IN 2016 UK SONGWRITING CONTEST
I am glad to announce that two of my songs were awarded semi-finalist positions in the 2016 UK Songwriting Contest. One was my song 2016 UK Songwriting Contest Certificate "Don't Let Me Get Your Grace In Vain" a POP version of my song, performed by Chas Evans.
The other, to my great pleasure and surprise, was actually of my own video performance, as amateur as it was (my surprise & pleasure), for the Music Video category, on my song "Big Pharma." "Big Pharma" was judged as a music video against some very professional competition, so that it scored 7, from a numeric scoring of 1 to 10, and got awarded semi-finalist left me really really happy. You can see that video of "Big Pharma" here on my YouTube channel, the very video judged in the UK contest, and yes, that is me performing, lip syncing to a great performance by Gene Rabbai of Studio "A" which has been previously recognized in SongDoor with an Honorable mention in 2013.
On top of that, the other songs I entered all received Commendable Entry awards, with none less than 5 in their score. For prior years commendations visit Music by Vivian Gendernalik
I GOT A LICENSING DEAL WITH CHICAGO MUSIC LIBRARY
I am pleased to say I signed an exclusive licensing deal with the Chicago Music Library on several of my songs listed on my Music Awards page, and am glad to be added to their list of indie artists. This is an amazing development from my faithfulness to tithe one night back in 2012 when I felt a special urge to do so that led to my getting hit with ideas for Christian songs soon as I had come home from church that evening, when I hadn't even hummed a tune in 10 years. That outpouring of songs led me to learn the art of songcrafting and produce these songs, and has led me to continue to write as I get new inspiration. Three years later I have several songs with accolades in my reportoire and a licensing deal. Now that's the mighty hand of God!
Update on Library Deal:
Now I am coming back to this news one year later because I want people to understand that even though I got this licensing deal, which I am still pleased to have, I have not seen any income from it. I state this because I want to overcome the enemy working on hearts to believe that because a Christian may enter into commercial promotion of his/her song that they are automatically profiting from these arrangements, and this really is in many cases not so. Now the Bible tells us to earn a living by our hand, and that the one who preaches the gospel is to make a living by the gospel, so of and by itself earning income is God commanded and not evil as some Christians are wrongly taught. It is the ungodly use of money, the worship of money, that is the root of evil.
I understood when I entered this arrangement from the contract that it would be unlikely I would see anything from it myself because the profit initially goes to the Library and any left over goes to the artist, which you really need to be a high profile artist to gain. Still, to me this is an acknowlegement of how far God has taken me due to my walking in faith, that I went from not even humming music for 10 years to getting offered and signing a genuine licensing deal and as well officially listed as a music composer in the music industry, all because I was faithful to follow a prompting in the spirit to rush to church and tithe because something special would unfold if I did, and it did!
I was suddenly receiving inspiration for Christian songs, and over time honed skills to produce songs that mostly fall into the prophetic song category in the Christian faith. That is awesome and definitely great news, a praise to God, and a great example how obedience is the key to going unexpected places with God. You can't really find me by name there, you find me by song and type because a library is searching for moods and categories. When you find my songs, then you find me listed there, that's how that goes.
